Wedding Outfit Shopping

Yesterday, the time had finally come to go shopping for my wedding outfit. We’d planned to go to Marks & Spencers at Fosse Park, but we then found that the black moleskin jeans that Sam particularly liked the look of were only available up to size 40. I’m a bit fatter than that, so we decided to give Downtown another try. For some reason, we failed to learn our lesson last time.

Anyway, it wasn’t as bad this time – a few less people around. We had a bit of a look around, and then went upstairs to the cafe for a baked potato and some thinking.

There were black moleskin jeans, nice and soft, but they were a little too small. On the other hand, though, I’ve lost a bit of weight recently, and have every intention of keeping going, so with a bit of luck, and maybe a bit of extra effort, I should be able to shrink a little more in the next few weeks and fit in them ok. More of a problem, though, was what to wrap my top half in. We both liked the idea of a jacket and T-shirt, but casual jackets were rarely black, so I wouldn’t be in Sam’s chosen colour scheme (black and red). Suit jackets, I thought, wouldn’t look right over a T-shirt, and I’d have trouble finding anything in my size anyway.

In the end, it came down to a choice of two…

  • A leather jacket, in a fairly long suit jacket style.
  • A black suit jacket with pinstripes, which actually looked surprisingly good over jeans and a T-shirt.

The leather won…

  • I’ll probably get more use out of a leather jacket.
  • Sam likes leather.

So, now I have to shrink a little – the jeans don’t quite fit, and the jacket is a little tight.

If anyone wants me, I’ll be in the kitchen eating leaves…
