I need to do a bit more reading about this HDR Photography thing. High Dynamic Range, I think. At the simplest level it’s something like just taking several shots of the same scene, and using different parts from different shots, exposed differently. So, you could use the sky part from one that was less exposed, but the shadows in the foreground were badly underexposed in that one. You’d couple that with another shot, though, where the foreground was well exposed – doesn’t matter if the sky is burned out in that one, you don’t use it.
Something like that, I think, but that may be a way of mimicking real HDR.
