And the squee will surely follow. Sit back and watch for the comments when I tell a certain Angel of Avalon she can say whatever she likes about it here….

This list is compiled of my most played songs, according to iTunes. I’m just scrolling through and picking as I go (and wondering why I listen to Atlantic Starr more often than Queen O.o)…
The intro to the song is a warning. “Caution: potent, rock and effing roll coming to destroy your eardrums in 3…2…1…†And then it explodes, and you don’t quite know where you are. The riff is amazing, and the song really gets into high gear once that Slash solo comes around.
One of my favourite Queen songs, just because of the way Brian May dominates it. He owns this song, from the beginning riff to the guitar solo to the way his guitar echoes into the ether at the end of it.
Perfection. The big anticipation hearing that riff. Brian Johnson’s awesome lyrics. And Angus Young capping it off. Guitar perfection!
This song….this song trumps ALL. The thudding drums, those violins, Robert’s haunting voice….and Jimmy Page, the genius who holds it all together. If y’all know anyone who doubts the Pagemeister’s skills, play this song for them. It’s so awesome you can almost forgive Jimmy for letting P Diddy get a hold of it.
Dun-de-dun-dun-da-dee-dee-dum….one of the ultimate party-rock songs ever, even though I never know when to sing “boy†or “toy
Yep, another Queen song. It’s on this list partly because it’s sung by Brian May and partly because its sweet lyrics and folky sound brings a smile to my face. It sits in the middle of that bastion of nonsensical magnificence that is “A Night At The Opera,†something a bit sane to tide you over all those Bismillahs and Prophets!
Another predatory guitar track. This one builds up and up until, much like the video, it explodes into pure rock destruction. The song was named after a Native American chief who waged a campaign against the expansion of the States back in the 1800s. So the song is really a fight song, in effect.
A song I have taken and called my own
. Brian May wrote this song, surprising given its raunchiness. He claims he just wrote it to make noise on the guitar. I think it’s just him giving us a peek at his bad side….
Another one of those songs that doesn’t need bombast to get to me. This song is all the more beautiful because of its simplicity. It makes me smile in all my happy places
The last great AC/DC song of the Bon Scott era. The man himself singing his heart out as he cheekily tells his Mama that he’s ‘on the way to the promised land.’ Archetypal rock song of defiance. It’s headbanger nirvana for me!

Just a few notes whilst I’m still working on repairing my first Snorkel…
RonB went through the same thing, and shared his thoughts afterwards. In the end, his advice is that if you just want one or two Snorkels repaired, get them done professionally. I’m still pushing on, because I want to learn, but I may yet chicken out and pass it on to someone who knows what they’re doing.
Cathedral Pens – stock shellac, and the sacs and o-rings needed for fixing up Snorkels, along with many other parts. Also suggested as somewhere that might have copies of Da Book available in the UK, if you ask. If you don’t know about Da Book, you probably don’t need it. I’ll do more on that later, anyway.
A couple of repair ‘stories’ – Snorkel Restoration and The Technical Side.

I got some very blank looks in B&Q asking for Shellac, so I had to go find out from Wikipedia what it is. Turns out, they use it to apply a nice shiny coating to apples. Since you’ve probably eaten it, you may not want to know what it really is.

More about ATCs, as the inevitable page on them creeps slowly towards us. This time, on ReadyMade Blog.

Oh dear. Guitar solos…so much to squee over, so little time! Following on from Sam’s here are mine:
This song is sexy anyway, but give it to Slash and his Les Paul and you’ve got a really big squee on your hands…or ermm, in your ears! Don’t stand too close to the squee or you’ll be sorry!
Really cool and so wonderfully sexy. Actually the guitar work in the whole song is sexy stuff, but when Joey runs with it live it’s even better!
This is one of the sexiest guitar pieces ever. It’s simple but it rocks, and I dare you to listen to it and not think about getting it on. A group called The Powerstation made a really good version of this in the 80’s too.
You can pick lots of things from Hendrix that are way over the top sexy, but this is one of my favorites.
This solo just soars…breathtaking!
practically everything he played, even tuning up! Oh yeah, listening to this man play is the guitar version of The Joy of Sex. Time would fail me to tell you of the delights of listening to him bow, use the slide, his powerful vibrating acoustic strumming, the whammy bar…yikes!! Just pick anything and I guarantee you the polish on your toenails will be cracking in no time. But these are my top dangerous Pagey squee moments:
Tea For One – AHHHH!!! This is supposed to be a sad song about missing your love, but all I think about is Jimmy, sweat dripping off that lush dark hair, dragon curling around his leg while he destroys me with this fire-breathing solo.
For Your Life – Here is Jimmy and his whammy bar, and just to add to the sexual deluge, Robert actually growls about two thirds of the way into the song! Beware girls, beware!
I’m Gonna Crawl – Jimmy kind of lays back at the beginning of this one, but don’t be fooled. When Robert sings, “Hit me,†Jimmy sure does hit you! What a solo, so emotional you feel like his guitar is crying. And you’ll be crying too from all that frenzied squee he builds up in you.
I could go on… Black Dog, Dazed and Confused, even Hats off to Roy Harper is super sexy delta blues slide. I’m done in! I think I need to go lie down…

The definition of Squee (Part 1). Squee is generally the reaction provoked by viewing pictures like these:

See? Squee. Yes. It’s that simple.
