Latest Update: innowen at DIY Planner review of “No Plot? No Problem!”.
This year’s NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month – but it’s really international these days) has kicked off, and writers all over the world have begun the challenge of writing a 50,000 word novel in 30 days.

Happy writing!
Yup!
This will be my third year in a row: first one I failed (32 kwords), last year I won (yeah!), this year, who knows? I’ll go for it, undoubtedly.
I use my trusty Psion Series 5mx to write (I basically write on the train while commuting, although Nano also asks for some additional coffee sessions
backed up by my Palm Tungsten T3, my pen and a notebook. As I write historical fiction, I also carry around several kilograms of books, plus several (many) megabytes of HTML pages from the Internet, and images, PDFs, whatever, plus a simple WikiWiki to carry with me handy info about characters, places, etc… This is the handy Palm, while the Psion is the writing powerhorse. Unbeatable combination.
grin
As handy backup I also have an old AlphaSmart Pro, which I use when i feel like. Its batteries last (much) longer than the Psion’s, but it’s bigger and the Psion keyboard is about right, I can basically touchtype with it, on my lap, lovely, and I love having the CF card for backup and to transfer the text to my Linux box (with ViM and Lyx!!
I bear this very same nickname, so meet me there, over the Historical Fiction and Technology fora! Good luck to everyone and have a great November!

hehe…
Oki doki, won’t try to convince you…
Thanks for the encouragement, though! I’ll keep my progress on my blog, and I’ll post in here from time to let you gang how miserably–er, wonderfully I’m going…

Wishing you all the best for NaNoWriMo, Excalibor. If you have any time to spare, we’d love to be kept up to date on your progress.

Failure is not an option.
It comes as standard.
Been there, tried that, ran away screaming and hid under the bed.
Best of luck to you though!

p>Thanks, Sam!

p>I’m aiming to Historical Fiction, which is my craft, so to say, from classical Greek times, from a mostly-Persian point of view (gotta love those Achaemenids, with all those many culture in their Empire, they remind me a trip to the subway in Madrid!) about the Ionian Revolt.
<
p>I’ll let you know (just arrived from a 4 hours University Library research session) as I go, and you can also watch me on my own page, I go by the same nickname, but the direct link (so you don’t have to search for me) is Excalibor’s profile.
<
p>Now back to research! (Bouncing with his shiny, brand new Lamy Safari F fountain pen—note taking, gotta love it—, yeah!!!
<
p>PS- Aren’t you giving it a shot?

Cracked 5K on day 2. This is my first NaNo and so far it’s been a great experience. Love the site by the way. I’m running Noodler Black in my Lamy Safari thanks to this site.
The Moleskine I had already though. ;^)

Nano 2006 The Life and Times of Ian McDonald (tentative title)
Hi Rolard,
Not bad going – that’s a good chunk of it done in two days.
We’re both on the Capless pens at the monent, and I’ve just had to order another bottle of the Noodler’s Eternal Black from The Writing Desk. I’ve ordered a bottle of Noodler’s Walnut ink too – it’s not Eternal, but apparantly, when wet, the colour runs out of it but leaves the black behind nice and permanant. The brown looks good, too.
