Pictures Anyone?

Uncategorized, by

How about some scans of the other guys? Slash isn’t the only one I have..hee hee.

As always, just click.

I’ve about 1,788 scans of old school GnR alone and that doesn’t even scratch the surface of what hasn’t been done yet. Of course, there are doubles, but not alot….

Slimming World Week 12

Uncategorized, by

Another good week of food optimising, Body Magic and all of the delightful malarkey involved in being a member of Slimming World. It’s been nearly three months since I first threw myself at the mercy of Frankie’s scales, and I couldn’t be happier with my progress.

Weight Loss To Date

Since starting the plan on 24th April (one year after getting married) I have lost 3 stone 3 pounds, aka 45 pounds, aka 20 kilo.

Vital Statistics

I haven’t been paying attention to my measurements until recently. Since I started looking, I’ve lost about 4 inches on my waist. Haven’t dared measure anywhere else yet. ;)

Energy

Here’s where the big difference is. Having spent so much of my life as either a couch potato or a mouse potato, and avoiding anything that even vaguely resembled that alien concept known as exercise, I’m now walking every day. Come rain or shine, or to put it more accurately for this area, come rain or rain. Last weekend Michael and I went to see Blues Brothers Unofficial and I got down with my bad self on the dance floor. I haven’t danced in years. It was liberating! Now I know how Joliet Jake felt in the church scene – “Jesus H. Tap-Dancing Christ! I have seen the light!”

Appetite

My tastes have changed, and I certainly don’t need as much food now to feel satisfied. It’s tough sometimes, but there’s a way around just about everything I might be in the mood for. If I want a bit of stodge, there are plenty of options on Green. And if I’m in the mood for a meaty curry or something similar, it’s easy on Original. The only thing that can’t be substituted is a drink, so Jack D and I do still get together every now and then. ;)

Mood

Emotions are still ruled by my hormones and are very up and down. Sometimes (like now) I feel great about my progress, but there are also times when I find myself dwelling on how much more I have to lose, and feeling like I’ve got a huge long journey ahead of me. And weigh-in day is a nightmare… everything hangs on the number on that scale! It’s a mindset I’ve got to get out of, because in reality the number on the scale is only a part of the puzzle. It’s about how I feel in my clothes, the spring in my step, how quickly I can jump out of the way when there’s a ton or two of Toyota heading in my direction… Mood is improving, but it’s taking time.

Commitment

I know it would be very easy to relax now and let the commitment and the enthusiasm slip. That’s why I keep talking about it here in the blog, and I also have other incentives to help me work towards that next stone (thanks to Irene and Tim).

The journey continues…

nowMap: Half-A4 Template (With areas for Notes and Wins)

Latest Update: Adding simple links, to get around some problems we’re having with the site.

This is a template for nowMaps – quick visual overviews of what’s on your mind. To find out what a nowMap is, and how to use the main section of this form, see the nowMap Introduction, which also lists other nowMap templates available.

This Form

Pics missing – sorry.

(This is just a pic to let you see what the form looks like – keep scrolling for the PDF file if you want to print one out to use it. If you’re really stuck, and can’t use the PDF, click the picture, then click on “view original”, then right click the picture and save it – it’ll look pretty poor printed, but it should work ok.)

This is actually the first nowMap form I made, and although I find it handy, it might be a bit small if you’re reasonably busy. The reason I’ve called it “Half-A4″, not A5, is that it’s actually a full sheet of A4 (should work just fine printed on US Letter paper, just let Adobe Reader scale it to fit), but only the bottom half is a nowMap.

Here’s a colour-coded version, so I can refer to the areas by colour further down – don’t worry, the PDF version isn’t like this…

Pics missing – sorry.

Bottom Half

A nowMap, as described in the introduction, with squared main area (pink), lined left hand side (yellow), and spaces marked on the right for start and end dates (blue).

Top Half

The top half consists of two columns for notes, and one for wins…

  • Notes: (red) – just areas for keeping general notes – not actions or references that belong to the side of the nowMap, but maybe a space to jot down things when you’re on the phone, to scribble new ideas, or pretty much anything else. Very rough notes can, of course, go on the back of the sheet.
  • Wins: (green) – an area to note down your achievements. Doesn’t have to be anything big, but anything you feel good about having done. The idea is that this gives you a bit of a record of what you’re actually getting done, and might make you feel a bit better when you glance up at it. Pure feel-good stuff. You don’t have to fill it in, but why not feel good at least occasionally?

The PDF Download

Here it is, along with the OpenOffice Draw file that generated it, to allow for modifications:

nowMap: Full A4 Templates

Latest Update: Adding simple HTML links to the files, to get around a few problems we’re having with the site.

This is probably the one most of you will want – a full A4 sized nowMap, with no trimmings.

There are two versions – one where the main nowMap area is plain, and one where it’s squared. Pick whichever you prefer – plain for the free-form free spirit in you, squared to let your inner geek shine.

The PDF Download

Should be below, along with the OpenOffice Draw (.odg) files. The OpenOffice Draw files are good if you want to edit the file. The PDF is good if you just want to print it, or you don’t have OpenOffice.
