Halloween Crafts

Uncategorized, by

PigPog – So creative it’s scary. Bwahhahhaaa….! Er. Yes. Here’s a selection of deliciously spooky ideas for Halloween…

LATEST UPDATE – You know what’s scary? That we’re just a few weeks away from Halloween again. Didn’t we just have summer? Oh well, off we go again with more spooky treats for the darkly inclined. Our first addition for 2007, a selection of spooky origami, comes from the lovely folks at Craftzine.

If you want to know more about Halloween itself, MakeZine have put together a few resources.

More will be added as the witching hour draws nearer… but now I must away as this Elvira costume is really starting to chafe.

Slimming World Week 18 – Just a quick one…

Uncategorized, by

Not much to report this week. Monday night saw a loss of a pound and a half, which takes my total weight loss up to Four stone, 8 and a half pounds or 64 and a half pounds or 29.2kg. I didn’t really have my eye on the ball the previous week, so really I was glad to have lost anything at all. This week has been different, I’ve been paying more attention to the plan, getting more exercise in and generally giving the whole thing the attention it deserves.

So, we’ll see what tomorrow brings. There are a few things happening at tomorrow’s meeting that I don’t want to jinx by talking about them, so I’ll just say that I might have several things to report tomorrow night. So that’s it for now… the journey continues!

Lunchtime Photography

Uncategorized, by

Sam is currently working on the same business park as I am, but she only gets half an hour for lunch. That’s not really enough time for us to get home and back and have something to eat, so we’ve started taking packed lunch with us, and eating it in a nicely empty bit of a car park on the same business park. Since I get there half an hour before here, and the car pack backs onto a nice little footpath alongside the River Lowman, I’ve been getting a bit of extra photography time with my new Nikon D40.

There are some pretty flowers, on the left…

…and even occasionally in the middle…

I’ve spent some time chasing bees, but they’re tricky little critters, and difficult to focus on…

I’ve played Peek-a-Boo with a squirrel…

…but I think the squirrel won.

I even found a grasshopper for Chris Brogan, but I don’t think he was too keen on it (click the pic to see his comment on Flickr)…

Actually, with that big spike at the back, I was glad to be able to keep my distance with the 55-200 VR zoom lens.

It’s a nice way to spend a bit of time in the middle of the day, though, and a great way to relax.
