Christmas Eve – a New TraditionWe’ve made a new tradition. Shopping for the Christmas food shall be done on Christmas Eve, and we will try to buy as much of it as possible when it’s reduced to clear.
After a very quiet half-day at work, I tried to call in at Tesco, but the queue was too much. I tried to call in to the town centre, to see what Somerfield/Co-op had to offer, but the queue was all the way through the town. I succeeded better at Morrisons, getting quite a few reduced bits, but no meat.
I managed to get parked surprisingly easily in M&S, and got more extras, but still no meat. After Sam finished work, we tried again at M&S, but they still weren’t reducing their very expensive prepared joints. We found a friendly member of staff (most of them are), and were told that it didn’t look likely that they’d be reducing any of the things we wanted.
We decided to brave Tesco. They weren’t reducing the meat either, but we got a few other bargains, and their full price prepared joints were still a fraction of the price of the ones at M&S. They probably aren’t as fancy, but we’re not fussy. A lump of meat, some potato products, and lots of little sausages wrapped in bacon – the important things.
The biggest problem was arriving home with everything – it was a lot of shopping to carry all the way up to our flat!
Anyway, I hope everyone has a merry Christmas, or enjoys whatever else you like to celebrate around this time. If that’s nothing, have a fun Friday.
Slimming World 17th and 24th December 2007Festive greetings to all who have been following my regular weight-loss blether. Hope you’re having a fun and relaxing Christmas Day. Here’s an update on the past couple of meetings.
Missed last week because when I wasn’t working, I was sleeping or staring into space wishing I was sleeping. I had a little gain the week commencing the 10th, so was doing my best that week to ensure a substantial loss to catch up. I did the usual thing of concentrating on the Superfree foods (free on both plans), but I also kept an eye on how much I was having. Yes, it’s possible to eat and eat and eat on this plan, but I had the feeling that I perhaps wasn’t paying enough attention to quantities and found myself over-eating and making myself feel a bit off.
By the next encounter with Mr Scale, I’d lost 4.5lb (2kg), which earned me another sticker and certificate, and you know how much I like my stickers and certificates.
Last night’s meeting didn’t see a capacity crowd. Not surprising, really.
I didn’t know what to expect because I’ve been really tired for most of the week, and although I stuck to the plan pretty well, I had the feeling I was coming down with something because from Wednesday or thereabouts, all I’ve wanted to do is sleep. But I put on my fancy frock, because I felt like showing off, toddled off to group and said hello once again to Mr Scale. It was another good one – 5.5lb (2.4kg)! This brings me into the holidays with a total weight loss so far of:
7st 13lbs or 111lbs or 50kg.
One pound away from another award. Three and a half pounds away from my first official Interim Target. Three and a half pounds away from being the right side of 20st. Approximately a year away from my target weight. You know, missing out on stuffing, mince pies and all of that doesn’t seem too bad now.
In case you’re wondering how I plan to get through this worldwide day of food and inactivity, here’s my food diary for today which is, of course, an Original day:
Knickers to that, sunshine. It’s Christmas! What kind of obsessive fruitloop do you take me for?
Okay, time to go and see if that Ostrich is done. Until next week, service continues as usual as the journey continues!
But Mister Scrooge, it’s Christmas Eve!I’m writing this post on my handheld coming to you live from the hand-picked guatemalan coffee shop at the local hand-picked guatemalan overpriced food and pants emporium. It’s only 8.30am and already the place is heaving with people desperately stocking up on supplies for tomorrow.
Meanwhile, I’ve got to go to work in a bit. I could quite happily sit here all day watching shoppers clear the shelves of mince pies and stuffing, but instead I’ve got to go in to work and spend the day wondering when we can go home.
It’s business as usual tonight, though. Off to Group as usual so I’ll be back later with a festive Slimming World update. Now to sink this espresso, turn off the Nano (thanks, Michael), shove it back in my cavernous new handbag (thanks again Michael!) and be on my way.
A happy Christmas Eve to all, wherever you are.
See you later.
