It's that time again - NaNoWriMo Awaits!

The leaves are turning brown, the nights are drawing in and writers across the globe are limbering up for another National Novel Writing Month. Fancy a go?

NaNoWriMo 2006

Latest Update: innowen at DIY Planner review of "No Plot? No Problem!".

This year's NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month - but it's really international these days) has kicked off, and writers all over the world have begun the challenge of writing a 50,000 word novel in 30 days.

NaNoWriMo Tips

Angela Booth's Productivity Tips for Writers

How could I resist a post that crosses straight through two of our main areas - productivity and writing? Especially when it mentions Merlin's famous Hipster PDA. Angela has shared her top five tips for productive writers, and they include having fun every day - I like that tip ;)

What would mine be? Well, I'm nowhere near as productive a writer as Angela, so I'd listen to her before me, but here goes...

50,000 Words in 30 Days - In Pencil

'Cyber Lizard' has told Pencil Revolution that he's taking part in NaNoWriMo - writing a 50,000 word first draft for a novel - but he's doing the whole thing handwritten in pencil...

He's also shared his thoughts on the various pencils he's tried whilst doing this. Not sure if we can get the California Republic Palominos in this country, but they seem to be going down well everywhere at the moment.

NaNoWriMo - What Is It?

National Novel Writing Month - November

What Is It?

NaNoWriMo - National Novel Writing Month is an international event to write a 50,000 word first draft of a novel in a month - November, to be precise.

We've got a NaNoWriMo section here on PigPog - needs a bit of filling out, though.

DIY Planner - NaNoWriMo - 50,000 words in 30 days

Two DIY Planner articles linked in a row, and they're both by Jaymi. What are the chances of that? Anyway, Jaymi points out that NaNoWriMo is coming up in November. NaNoWhatMo? National Novel Writing Month.

The name is a little misleading...

  • It's not really national - it's international - us non-Americans can join in too.
  • It's actually about writing a first draft for a novel - not the entire finished novel.

...it is a month, though. That bit's true.

Anyway, Jaymi's article goes into some thoughts on ways to organise your ideas to help you get your 50,000 words done in a month...
