(Or how I learned to stop worrying and enjoy being a cross-dressing cosplayer)

An update on my adventures cosplaying as the greatest TV copper ever to have existed in a dystopian limbo afterlife-type-place.

Ashes to Ashes Series 3 ~ Radio Times Promo Shot - July 2010

I’ve been doing this for a couple of years, I cannot begin to tell you how much fun this is. You could probably guess, actually. Every ounce of grumpy aggression I accumulate every time something grinds my gears – a repeated chorus of “unexpected item in baggage area” is channelled as a strut, a stare and a politically incorrect rant that would go down in my normal life “about as well as a pork pie at a jewish wedding”. Well since I’m obviously not the shoe-shopping and spa days type, I had to find another way to wind down, and donning man drag and shouting at people works for me.

I’m in a film

Yes. Yes I am. Called Same Old Scene, it spins off from Ashes to Ashes, and features Alex Drake’s daughter finding herself in her mum’s world. It’s a cracking drama and a brilliant piece of work by my young friends Harriet Kaczmarczuk and Charlie Bailey, known collectively as “Charriet Productions”. The girls have put so much work into this and it’s coming together really nicely, more on that as we get closer to release.

I’m officially “six parts Gene Hunt”.

According to Matthew Graham and Ashley Pharoah, the writers responsible for bringing Gene Hunt to our screens.

"Six Parts Gene Hunt"

They didn’t specify which six parts, but it’s still a pretty impressive endorsement. Oh, and they “adore pigpog”, which is very nice of them to say so even if they did get my name wrong.

November 27th 2010 – Guv Meets Guv

I have met Philip Glenister a couple of times before, but never in cosplay. He’s going to be at Collectormania London in November, so finally, The Guv will meet The Guv. Should be a very interesting experience for all concerned, I’m sure! Also, a lovely young actor by the name of Mason Kayne will be there. He played the ghostly young copper who haunted Alex during series three of Ashes and turned out to be… (what do you mean you haven’t watched it yet? sheesh). I met Mason at the last party thrown by the Luigi’s gang. He’s a smashing bloke.

There will inevitably be photos and videos aplenty, which I shall share with you lucky, lucky people at the time. But for now I will close by showing you what we get up to at our parties… this was filmed in July, in a hot bar, at stupid o’clock in the morning. And yet I still managed to bring the FUNKEH (here’s the original).
