Prompt: Moment. Pick one moment during which you felt most alive this year. Describe it in vivid detail (texture, smells, voices, noises, colors).
I’ll go for the most recent one as it’s easiest to recall. Last Saturday.
I do love dressing up and playing the fool. And I quite like an audience too. This was the Cosplay Skit Contest at Collectormania London. I was joined my adopted sister Kez, and we performed a largely improvised sketch as DCI Gene Hunt and DCI Jim Keats from Ashes to Ashes. A large space in a very large room – the first floor of Olympia 2. The convention was buzzing; lots to see and do, but a large crowd of friends appeared to show their support. I felt a buzz of adrenaline as the MC for the contest called out our names, and we snapped into character and did our thing. We had microphones. Good, weighty radio microphones. This was the real deal. I had a costume, a character, a partner in crime, a ruddybloody good act and a microphone. The two of us rocked the house.
I need to do this more often.
