Bristol is a big city on the way from down here to civilisation. It’s a strange place, well known for its industrial history, and still very proud of Isambard Kindom Brunel. They’re very rightly proud of their street art too, especially around South Bristol, where the Upfest urban art festival happens. Stokes Croft is quite wonderful too, a fiercely independent area full of lovely hippies.
