The lens that often lives on my camera now.

Not an impressive zoom range, and limited max aperture, so it's not great for portraits, or many other purposes, but it's good enough for most day to day shooting. So why use a lens that's only decent for most situations? Because it's tiny and very lightweight. Makes the camera smaller and easier to carry.

And it is sharp, so as long as you don't need a wide aperture or a longer or shorter focal length, it takes really good photos. Very good for street photography, and often fine for other stuff.

A little expensive at full price, but it's the kit lens for the A7C, so they come up used reasonably often, usually barely used.

The most odd thing about its design is that it's collapsable. When not in use, it's smaller. When you want to use it, you turn the zoom ring to extend the lens out, and it clicks into place at the widest point, then just keep turning to zoom in. There's a fairly firm detent before it starts collapsing again, so I've never accidentally collapsed it. It's the same way many compact cameras extend their lens out ready for shooting, but you have to do it by hand.
